Fet Guede

Fet Guede is one of the biggest Voodoo celebrations. It is celebrated Nov 1st & 2nd. It honors those that have past, similar to the day of the dead celebrations. This celebration is for the Guede, ancestors, and loved ones who have past.
There are thousands of Guede Lwa. They are known for their love of life (even though they have past).  They are known for their powers of healing, prophecy, protection, and magical abilities. They can be a rowdy bunch who focus on humor and sex.  The Fet Guede  tends to be a very exciting and dramatic celebration with lots of drinking, huge amounts of food, drumming and dancing, and a lot of Lwa presence.  This is a very high-energy festival and very positive event.
Decorations and costumes are usually black, purple, and white-lots of skulls and skeletons.
The menu usually includes lots of spicy foods and fancy deserts.  Fet Guede is an
exciting and very joyous celebration.
